- USEC Helps Operation Safety Net Provide Assistance to Local Homeless - August 28, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 corporate donation to Operation Safety Net. This organization operates the Scioto County Homeless Shelter in Portsmouth. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Maureen Cadogan, Executive Director.
The Scioto County Homeless Shelter provides housing and food for area homeless, and it also offers and advances opportunities for self-determination, self-help, and cooperation among people with limited resources. It provides household budget management, nutrition education, daily living skills, job seeking skills, parenting classes, literacy skills and other assistance. The shelter also works to assist residents in securing safe, decent and affordable housing, and it arranges for educational enrichment by providing access to GED study programs and testing for those who need and want it.

- USEC Donates to YMCA of Ross County - August 28, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 donation to support the YMCA of Ross County and its PACE programs. Sandy Fout, Technical Services Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Greg Corzine, YMCA Board Member. Greg is also a USEC Inc. employee.
The YMCA PACE programs offers discounted memberships to individuals and families who are not otherwise able to afford the fees. PACE memberships allow families to have as safe, positive place to come together to get physically fit, emotionally strong and to have fun. The YMCA is open to everyone and currently has 200 families in its financial assistance program.

- USEC Donation Supports Improvements for Village of Piketon - August 28, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 corporate donation in support of continued improvements within the Village of Piketon. The donation also supported the Village’s annual fireworks celebration.

- USEC Donates to Jared “Hammer” Dever Memorial Scholarship Fund - August 22, 2008: USEC Government Services recently donated $1,000 to the 2008 Jared “Hammer” Dever Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year’s recipients were two Minford High School Seniors, Keenan Havens and Jared Farmer. Each received a scholarship in the amount of $500. The scholarships were presented by Anita McGinnis, Jared Dever's mother, at the Minford Senior Award Ceremony held in May at Minford High School.
“With the continued support of USEC and the loving remembrance of friends and family members, I am able to present these two scholarship awards in Jared’s memory. Jared loved the game of baseball and dedicated his heart and soul to the game, excelling not only at the high school but at the collegiate level as well. Through these scholarships, it is our hope that a part of him will live on in each recipient and that they, too, will take that same dedication into their athletic as well as academic endeavors,” said McGinnis.
Keenan Havens, son of Bryan and Theresa Havens of Minford, was a dual varsity sport athlete at Minford, lettering in both soccer and baseball. He will attend Shawnee State University, majoring in Education with an emphasis in Science, where he will continue his collegiate athletic career.
Jared Farmer, son of Steve and Sharman Farmer of Minford, was a four-sport athlete at Minford, lettering in soccer, football and baseball. He will attend Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, majoring in Nursing, where he will continue his collegiate athletic career in baseball, attending on a scholarship award.

- USEC Donation Supports New Swine Barn at Jackson County Fair - July 25, 2008: Piketon, Ohio – USEC recently provided a $5,000 donation in support of the Jackson County Senior Fair Board and its project to raise funding to build a new swine barn that will house some 200 hog projects for Jackson County youth programs. Sandy Fout, Technical Services Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Jay Riepenhoff, Fair Board President, and Carol Landrum, Fair Board Secretary, at opening ceremonies for the Jackson County Fair on Monday, July 14.
The Fair Board is currently beginning the demolition phase of the old barn in preparation for beginning the erection of the new barn which is scheduled to be ready for the 2009 fair.

- USEC Provides Donation to Lighthouse Youth Center - July 22, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a $500 donation to the Lighthouse Youth Center at Paint Creek, near Bainbridge. The funds will be used to support the center’s new arts program, providing much needed supplies such as paints, art boards, clay, brushes, easels and other types of equipment.

The Lighthouse Youth Center at Paint Creek is a private, non-profit residential program that provides rehabilitation services to adolescent boys, ages 15 to 18 years old.

- USEC Supports American Legion Post 363 - July 11, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a $500 donation to the William A. Baker Post 363 of the American Legion in Lucasville.
Vern Blaine of USEC’s Corporate Donations Committee presented the donation to Jim Estep, active member of American Legion and World War II veteran.
The Lucasville post is very active in the community, providing scholarships to students from Valley and Northwest High Schools; participating in military funerals on a regular basis; helping needy families in the area; disposing of residents’ worn flags; and, decorating military gravesites in Valley, Jefferson and Morgan townships.

- USEC Helps Senior Olympics Kick Off Fundraising Campaign for 2008 Event - July 9, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently kicked off the Senior Olympics’ fundraising campaign by providing a $1,000 donation to support the 2008 event, scheduled for September 18, 2008, at the Scioto County Fairgrounds.
Rob Beverly, USEC Manager of Human Resources, provided the check to Linda Slone, Senior Advisor, and Amy Clemons, Administrator of Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.
The Senior Olympics has grown to include participation from nearly 50 nursing homes in a nine-county region. Last year, approximately 1,000 seniors participated in addition to nearly 1,000 volunteers and spectators. The event includes fun competition, games, entertainment and food.

- USEC Provides Donation for Environmental Center at Girl Scout Camp - June 30, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently donated $500 in support of the Webster Environmental Center at Camp Molly Lauman near Portsmouth. The camp is directed through the Seal of Ohio Girl Scouts Council. The council serves more than 24,000 girls, ages 5 to 17, with the help of nearly 7,000 adult mentors.

- USEC Sponsors Main Street Portsmouth’s “Ribs on the River” - June 26, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 donation in support of Main Street Portsmouth and its upcoming “Ribs on the River” event planned for July 4. Sandy Fout, Technical Services Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Zoë Richards, Director, Main Street Portsmouth.
This first annual Ribs on the River Festival will be held on the corner of 2nd and Court Streets from 4-8 p.m. on July 4. Tickets are $12 and include ribs and side dishes. With the purchase of an adult ticket, children under age 10 may have a hot dog and chips for only $1. Other activities include: Doc Roc playing beside the Ye Olde Lantern, inflatables and snow cones along Front Street, and the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra performing in Tracy Park where the American Red Cross will have popcorn and beverages for sale. The Portsmouth Scioto County Visitors Bureau will also participate, and Life Ambulance is providing a train to take people from Tracy Park along the floodwall to see the murals and back to the Ribs on the River Festival where they can enjoy dinner and walk to the river front for the fireworks at 10 p.m.
Main Street Portsmouth is a nationally accredited Main Street community. The district focuses on the Downtown and Historic Boneyfiddle Districts, which encompasses roughly the Scioto River east to Gay Street and from the Ohio River north to 11th Street. The goal of Main Street Portsmouth is to promote the downtown and historic Boneyfiddle areas as destinations to live, work, and play, while preserving their historic integrity.

- USEC Gives to Helping Hands - May 27, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 donation to support Helping Hands of Greenup County Inc. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Geraldine Holsinger, Director of Helping Hands.
The mission of Helping Hands is to help meet the emergency needs of individuals and families in Greenup County, Ky. In 2007, they provided utility assistance to more than 360 families to keep their utilities from being terminated. They also provided food and clothing to more than 900 families, distributing more than 55,000 pounds of food. Household items, furniture and appliances were donated to several families who lost all their belongings due to house fires. Christmas baskets and toys were provided to 60 households as well.

- USEC Provides Donation to Boy Scouts - May 23, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a donation to the Chief Logan District of the Boy Scouts of America. The district encompasses scouting troops in Ross, Pike, Jackson, Vinton, Fayette and Pickaway counties.
Brent Harty, District Director, accepted a $500 check from Jack Williams, USEC’s Manager of Public Affairs.

- USEC Donation Helps Keep Children in School - May 20, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 donation to support a local partnership that has formed to help keep area children in school. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Belinda Salisbury, RN at the Portsmouth City Health Department, and Gary Warnock, Social Service Administrator at the Scioto County Department of Job and Family Services. Additional participants in the presentation included Alicia Parker of the Portsmouth City Health Department, as well as Herman Patrick, Erica Newman, Mary Beth Colley, Tabitha Skiver and Eric Horsley, of the Scioto County Department of Job and Family Services.
The Portsmouth City Health Department and the Scioto County Department of Job and Family Services have partnered to help provide “De-Bug,” a lice eradication product, for indigent families who are not eligible for Medicaid. Their goal is to help keep children in school and to quickly return children to school who are not attending due to head lice so they do not fall behind in their academic studies. De-Bug is organic, highly effective and safe and does not require a prescription.

- USEC Sponsors Scott Porter Memorial Event - May 15, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 donation to support the 9th Annual Scott Porter Memorial 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk and Youth Track Meet. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Joe Porter, USEC employee and coordinator of this event.
The proceeds from this event support the Scott Porter Memorial Fund which was established in January 1999 after Scott’s untimely death due to cancer. A 1994 graduate of Waverly High School, Porter excelled in the sports of cross country and track. Through the Scott Porter Memorial Fund, the Foundation encourages other students, with a similar drive to excel, to continue their personal growth. Two $750 scholarships will be awarded this year from the fund to Waverly seniors. Additionally, gifts supporting extracurricular activities are awarded as funding permits. To date, the memorial fund’s support to Waverly and graduating seniors has exceeded $18,000.
This year’s event will be held on Monday, May 26, with the first youth race beginning at 12:45 p.m. The 5K race begins at the high school track facility, with the race winding through the streets of Waverly and returning to the track for the finish. - USEC Gives to Beaver Squad 3 - May 14, 2008: USEC recently provided a $750 donation to support Beaver Squad 3 with its purchase of a Casualty Simulation Kit. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Kathy Pence, Chief of Beaver Squad 3.
The Casualty Simulation Kit will assist Beaver Squad 3 with preparing for local disaster drills and with providing educational programs such as “Prom Promise” programs for teens at area high schools.

- USEC Supports Neighbor to Neighbor Ministries - May 9, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 donation to support Neighbor to Neighbor Ministries. Sandy Fout, Technical Services Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Bonnie Mullins, Treasurer, and Jesse Strickland, Chairman of the Board for Neighbor to Neighbor. Both are USEC employees who are active in this organization.
Neighbor to Neighbor Ministries, an outreach of Central Baptist Church, is a faith-based, non-profit organization that operates the Operation Scioto County Reach Out Food Program. In December 2007, this program served 1,335 people (530 families). It currently has five distribution sites and is looking to add new sites this summer. The current sites are located at 1640 Highland Avenue in Portmouth, and the county sites are located in Franklin Furnace, South Webster, Sedan and Minford.

- USEC Donation Helps Pebble Township Volunteer Fire Department Organize Swift Water Rescue Team - May 7, 2008: USEC recently provided a $3,200 corporate donation to the Pebble Township Volunteer Fire Department in support of its organization of a swift water rescue team. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Scott Trego, Chief of the department.
Pebble Township has several low areas including the Pee Pee Creek and Sunfish Creek in Idaho where the potential for high, swift water is great. Establishing the Pebble Township swift water rescue team will provide additional resources to the county as it responds to situations where individuals are caught in swift water until the proper rescue equipment arrives.
USEC employees who serve as volunteers with the Pebble Township Fire Department include Marty Ford, Rick Perkins and Scott Cool.

- USEC Supports Child Protection Center - May 6 , 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a $500 donation to the Child Protection Center in Chillicothe. Shelley Shoemaker, Prevention Specialist/Supervised Visitation Coordinator, accepted the donation from Pam Potter, USEC’s Manager of Environmental Compliance and Waste Management.
The Child Protection Center was designed by a group of local agencies in Ross County, Ohio, to assure that children who have been abused receive appropriate attention in a timely manner. The Center also provides support to the children's families and is staffed by pediatricians, nurses, a social worker, a child therapist and a Supervised Visitation Coordinator.

- USEC Provides Support for Pike County Welfare House - May 1, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 corporate donation to the Pike County Welfare House. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Theodore Bates, Treasurer, and Elaine Durham, Director of the Welfare House.
The Welfare House’s mission is to distribute new shoes, socks and underwear to school children and to collect and distribute used clothing and household items to needy families in Pike County. In 2007, the Welfare House distributed 125 pairs of new shoes, 883 packages of new socks and underwear and gave out 12,123 articles of used clothing, 22,018 boxed or “grab-bag” items, and 767 household articles. It served 792 families, including 748 children, and it assisted 51 homeless individuals with clothing and household items as well as two families whose homes were burned. Located at 107 ½ West Third Street in Waverly, it has been serving families in Pike County for more than 40 years.

- USEC Donation to Pike County Outreach Council of Churches; Helps Provide Needed Assistance to Pike County Families - April 29, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 corporate donation to the Pike County Outreach Council of Churches, Inc. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge, presented the donation to Judy Dixon, Executive Director.
The Pike County Outreach Council brings together the resources of churches, community organizations and government agencies to serve the needs of the Pike County community. Through its Emergency Services program, located at 107 West Second Street, Waverly, the Council gives emergency assistance in the form of food, hygiene and cleaning supplies. Emergency Services partners with other organizations to meet emergency needs such as medicine, items needed to start employment (such as work boots and clothing), infant formula, diapers, overnight housing, utility payments, information and referral. The Council provided emergency services to 389 households in 2007.
Through a food pantry supported by churches, schools, organizations, clubs and individuals, the Council distributes food five days a week to needy Pike County households. In 2007, the food pantry fed 9,939 people in 3,082 households. The Council also operates the Bridgehaven Homeless Shelter, located at 109 West Second Street in Waverly, which in 2007 housed 110 residents who stayed a total of 2,570 shelter nights. The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day. The Outreach Council also helped 227 families to stay in their homes in 2007 by providing financial assistance to help with utility disconnects and evictions.

- USEC Sponsors Pike County Dogwood Festival - April 24, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 corporate sponsorship in support of the 2008 Pike County Dogwood Festival scheduled for April 25-27. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the sponsorship to Theresa Parmeter, Coordinator, Dogwood, Inc.
Dogwood, Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to promote tourism, historical restoration and community heritage. The Dogwood Festival will be held on the streets of Piketon and features exhibits that highlight old-fashioned arts and crafts. There will also be an antique car show, bike show, the cyclists Dogwood Tour, chain saw skill contest, fiddle and banjo contests, a pie eating contest, horseshoe contests, band concerts and good old-fashioned food. The Grand parade will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.

- USEC Provides Donation for Outdoor Benches and Tables at Scioto County Welcome Center - April 18 , 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a $2,500 donation to purchase outdoor benches and tables for the Scioto County Welcome Center. Jack Williams, USEC Manager of Public Affairs, presented the donation to Robert Huff, President and CEO of the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
The 15,000 sq ft. Scioto County Welcome Center was established in November 2005 and serves as a travel stop on the midway point of the Ohio portion of the Ohio River Scenic Byway. The facility's main objective is to attract visitors and to enhance their time spent in Southern Ohio. The facility also serves the public with spacious banquet facilities that are used for business meetings, reunions, weddings etc.

- USEC Donates Fire Truck to Local Fire Department Pumper Given to Camp Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department - April 11, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation made a significant donation to Pike County’s Camp Creek Township recently when USEC donated one of its fire trucks to the township’s volunteer fire department.
Jim Boyce, USEC Fire Chief, presented the keys and title to Ed Frederick, Camp Creek Township Fire Department Chief. Also in attendance for the presentation were Pike County Commissioner John Harbert, Camp Creek Township trustees, representatives from the Pike County Firefighters Association, USEC procurement, and USEC General Manager Wray Jordan.
“This donation is extremely significant because it will enhance the Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department’s ability to respond to fires and emergencies in the community,” said Jordan. “USEC is proud to have a long history of supporting our local fire departments.”
The pumper truck, a 1973 Ford 600, is in good condition and was turned over to the Camp Creek Department well-equipped with hoses, nozzles and other fire fighting tools.
USEC replaced the truck recently with a new pumper and decided that a local fire department might need the older model. Through a formal selection process, the Camp Creek Township Fire Department was chosen because they had the greatest need. “We will put this in service today,” said Brian Frederick, Camp Creek Township Fire Department, upon receipt of the used truck.
Camp Creek Township, approximately 29 square miles in size, is in the southern part of Pike County, west of the plant beyond the Scioto River.

- Scioto County 4-H Presents USEC with “Friend of 4-H Award” - April 2, 2008: On March 31, the Ohio State University Extension Office, Scioto County 4-H, presented the "Friend of 4-H Award" to USEC in appreciation for its hard work and dedicated service to the youth of Scioto County. Gary Workman, Plant Services Manager for USEC Inc.'s American Centrifuge Plant, accepted the award on behalf of USEC at a dinner sponsored by Scioto County 4-H at the Scioto County Welcome Center.

- USEC Donation Supports Piketon Cadets - March 25, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation to the Piketon Police Department to support the Cadet Program. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Sergeant Brandi Davis.
The Piketon Police Department’s Cadet Program is for children ages 8-15 who reside in the Scioto Valley Local School District. It was created to give local children a positive influence while bringing the police department closer to members of the community. Cadets receive hands-on experience with such aspects of police work as crime prevention, first aid, fingerprinting and bike patrol. The purpose of the program is to motivate children to maintain good grades, stay out of trouble at school and at home, and conduct themselves professionally by following a strict set of rules and regulations.
The USEC donation will be used to help purchase more uniforms for the cadets as well as items for classroom activities. For more information about the Cadet Program, call 289-3102 on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- USEC Supports Pike County Partnership Against Domestic Violence - March 25, 2008: USEC recently provided a $1,000 corporate donation to the Pike County Partnership Against Domestic Violence. Pike County Partnership Against Domestic Violence is the only adult victim service provider for domestic violence and sexual assault located in Pike County. From January to September 2007, the agency assisted 80 adults with filing protection orders, safety planning, crisis intervention, shelter placement, intakes, assessments, etc.

- USEC Donates to Pastoral Counseling Center - March 20, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation to support the Pastoral Counseling Center. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Michael Riley, Executive Director.
The Pastoral Counseling Center and its staff of mostly volunteers, from their new location at 749 Sixth Street in Portsmouth, provide individual and family counseling at no charge to clients from Scioto County and nearby areas who otherwise could not afford the high cost of counseling sessions. The Center also acts as a referring agency for those who need help and do not know where to go for assistance. In 2007, the Center began providing onsite counseling to MR/DD (Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) clients at Vern Riffe School. They also distribute food to local citizens in need through a pantry located at The Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

- USEC Donation Helps Scioto County Canal Society to Celebrate History - March 20, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation to the Scioto County Canal Society. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Judith Ross, Founder of the Society; Garnet Davis, Secretary; and members Jeanie Smith-Wheeler and Don Davis.
This organization of close to 50 members works to preserve Ohio & Erie Canal history in Scioto County. Now in its fifth year of existence, the Society kicked off a year-long celebration of the 175th anniversary of the grand opening of the canal on December 1, 2007. USEC’s donation will be used to sponsor this celebration down through the year as the Society works to educate the public and area children on the history of the Ohio & Erie Canal Transportation System.

- USEC Supports Cultural Programs of Cirque d’Art Theatre - March 20, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation to support the cultural opportunities offered by the Cirque d’Art Theatre in Portsmouth. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Taylor Sparks and Courtney Speck, both participants in the Theatre’s most advanced class. They also performed in the Cirque des Amis production at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on October 30, 2007.
The Cirque d’Art Theatre, a Performing Troupe of Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center, offers dance, acrobatics, and circus arts classes to all socio-economic, ethnic and special needs individuals ranging from age 2 to senior citizen. No one is turned away from this program which also offers a special handicapped class to enrich the lives of those with disabilities.

- USEC Provides Donation to Support Renovations at Southern Ohio Museum - March 20, 2008: USEC recently provided a $2,000 corporate donation as part of its annual patron membership and to also support museum renovations. - USEC Sponsors Energy Fair - March 13, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 corporate donation to the Ohio Energy Project (OEP) in support of their efforts to provide southern Ohio students and teachers with energy education opportunities. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Debby Yerkes, Executive Director.
OEP continues to develop new ways to promote energy education and “Kids Teaching Kids” leadership opportunities. As part of this effort, OEP conducted an Energy Fair on the campus of Shawnee State University on January 8, which was attended by more than 500 students and teachers from the local area. Every summer, OEP also leads a group of teachers in the Energy Sources Tours, visiting many of Ohio’s energy sites that demonstrate the difference sources, their applications and other science concepts.

- USEC Helps Chillicothe VA Fund Welcome Home Celebrations - March 13, 2008: USEC recently provided a $5,000 corporate donation to the Chillicothe VA Medical Center to help fund Welcome Home Celebrations for veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. - USEC Supports Local Emergency Planning Efforts - March 13, 2008: USEC recently provided a $700 corporate donation in support of the Ross County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and its emergency exercise held in February. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Cheryl Bauer, chairman of the Committee’s Exercise Subcommittee. Bauer is also an employee with USEC’s Emergency Management department.
The Ross County LEPC is required to conduct exercises to test emergency plans and procedures, and many local emergency response volunteers participate in these exercises.

- USEC Sponsors Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Conducted by 7 Nations Celtic Club - March 10, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation in sponsorship of the 7 Nations Celtic Club and its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade planned for Saturday, March 15. The 7 Nations Celtic Club is a non-profit organization whose members work together to celebrate, promote and preserve their common Celtic inheritance by holding educational and entertainment events highlighting Celtic Culture throughout the year. - USEC Supports American Red Cross - February 19, 2008: USEC has recently provided $6,000 in corporate donations and sponsorships to the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented one of three recent donations to Mary Arnzen, Executive Director of the Chapter.
USEC will serve as a sponsor for the upcoming Red Cross fundraiser, “Disaster Blaster with a Twist.” This event will be held on Friday, March 14, at the SOMC Friends Center from 7-11 p.m., and it will include a silent auction, “reverse” raffle, suitcase game, dinner, cash bar and karaoke. In 2007, the Ohio River Valley Chapter, which covers both Pike and Scioto counties, assisted 67 families impacted by fires and floods, collected 3,319 units of blood and trained 1,414 individuals in life saving techniques. The Chapter also helped military family members send emergency messages to 23 individuals serving one of the branches of our Armed Forces.

- USEC Helps Provide Funding to Develop Waverly Disc Golf Course - February 19, 2008: USEC recently provided a $2,000 corporate donation to the Pike County Chamber of Commerce as part of a project to develop a frisbee (disc golf) course at the east end of Waverly’s Bristol Park. Wray Jordan, General Manager, United States Enrichment Corporation, and Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Blaine Beekman, Executive Director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, and Dale Reed, Mayor of Waverly, during the Chamber’s annual dinner on January 18.
Over the past 30 years, the game of frisbee, or disc golf, has grown in the United States at a steady 15 percent consistently each year, according to the Professional Disc Golf Association’s 2006-Year End Report. There are nearly 1,900 disc golf courses in the United States with 72 located in Ohio. The course will offer a unique recreational opportunity for local residents as its low cost opens up the game and its enjoyment to all groups of people, regardless of income level.

- USEC Supports Kiwanis Shoes & Socks Project - January 22, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently presented a $1,000 donation to the Kiwanis Club of Lucasville. The funds were provided to support the club’s major project of purchasing shoes and socks for needy preschool and school-age children in the Valley, Northwest, Clay and Minford School Districts in Scioto County. Last year, the Kiwanis provided 95 pairs of new shoes and socks at the request of individual teachers. USEC General Manager Wray Jordan presented the check to Gary Crandall of USEC’s engineering staff. Crandall is also an active member of the Lucasville Kiwanis.

- USEC Gives to Pike County Board of MR/DD - January 18, 2008: USEC recently provided a $500 corporate donation in support of the Pike County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD) and its Special Olympics programs. Gary Workman, Plant Services Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Justin Altman, Mike Wilhelm, and Stanley Potoniec, participants in the Special Olympics program, as well as Joyce Welsh, Adult Services Director for Pike County Board of MR/DD.
Children and adults from MR/DD participate in various Special Olympics events including track and field, volleyball, basketball, bowling and golf. The USEC donation will be used to help provide more MR/DD clients with opportunities to participate in these competitions.

- USEC Donates $2,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters - January 11, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided $2,000 to South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters. Two separate donations, $1,000 each, were provided to support the annual Bowl for Kids Sake events held throughout south central Ohio and the school-based mentoring program in Scioto County. Teresa Shisler, USEC Budget Analyst and Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer, presented one of the donations to Christy Schreick , Enrollment, Match and Match Support Specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide the highest quality volunteers and professional services for children between the ages of 7-14, primarily from single parent homes, and to assist them in achieving their greatest potential through one-to-one, long-term and safe relationships between the Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteers and the children. A recent independent study showed children that were matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister were more confident in their performance in school, had better relationships with their families, and were less likely to begin using illegal drugs or alcohol. - USEC Donates Funding to Pike County Commissioners - January 3, 2008: USEC recently presented a $5,000 corporate donation to the Pike County Board of Commissioners to support the board’s general operations. Dan Rogers, General Manager of USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, Sandy Fout, Engineering Manager for American Centrifuge, and Wray Jordan, General Manager of the United States Enrichment Corporation, presented the donation to Commissioners Teddy West, Harry Rider and John Harbert as well as to Jennifer Chandler, Director, Pike County Economic Development. They recently visited the site for an American Centrifuge update and tour. “We appreciate the cooperation and support that the Pike County Commissioners consistently provide to USEC,” said Rogers.

- USEC Supports the Lucasville American Legion - January 2, 2008: The United States Enrichment Corporation recently provided a $500 donation to the Lucasville post of the American Legion. Vern Blaine, Chairman of USEC’s Donation Committee, presented the donation to Ron Caldwell, Commander.
The Lucasville Post of the American Legion has approximately 160 members. The funds donated will go toward the addition of a storage area onto the Legion’s hall in Lucasville.

- USEC Gives to The Counseling Center and its Kindred Spirits Program - November 1, 2007: USEC recently provided a $2,500 corporate donation in support of The Counseling Center, Inc. and its Kindred Spirits program. Angie Duduit, Public Affairs Manager for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant, presented the donation to Barb Burke, President of the Center’s Board of Directors; Ed Hughes, Executive Director; Karen McGraw, Resource Development Specialist; Jon Coriell, Farm Manager of Kindred Spirits; and Pam Johnson, Program Director, Kindred Spirits.
The Counseling Center recently purchased a 38-acre farm near Lucasville that has been converted to a six-month residential program for teenage boys ages 13-17. The Center’s Kindred Spirits program incorporates work, equine therapy and counseling services in order to help each adolescent develop a drug-free lifestyle. As a result, each young person learns valuable lessons in life skills, work and how to avoid the lure of drugs and alcohol. Kindred Spirits also allows adolescents to continue their education as they participate in the daily maintenance of the farm, which includes raising produce and farm animals. Up to 30 young men and their families will receive services annually through the Kindred Spirits program.
