BETHESDA, Md. – USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today that Wray Jordan, general manager of its Government Services unit in Piketon, Ohio, will retire as of September 30, 2009. Jordan's retirement ends a 31-year association with the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site in Piketon.
Jordan has been USEC's general manager at Piketon since 2005. He was a driving force in establishing the USEC Government Services division at Piketon after the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant ceased operations in 2001 and in preparing USEC's workforce for its current and future contract work at the site. Prior to becoming general manager, he served as USEC's director of program management in Piketon and in the program management group at USEC headquarters in Maryland.
"Wray has been a part of USEC since almost day one, and he will truly be missed," said Robert Van Namen, USEC senior vice president.
Prior to working at USEC, Jordan had held several positions over a 20-year period in Maryland and in Piketon for U.S. Department of Energy contractors Lockheed Martin Utility Services and Goodyear Atomic.
Russell B. Starkey, Jr., USEC vice president, will provide overall direction for Government Services as interim general manager.
USEC Inc., a global energy company, is a leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. The United States Enrichment Corporation, a subsidiary of USEC Inc., operates a uranium enrichment plant in Paducah, Kentucky, and does contract work for the U.S. Department of Energy in Piketon through its Government Services division.
