USEC and SPFPA Local-66 Union Sign Contract for Plant Security

PIKETON, Ohio – The United States Enrichment Corporation and the Security, Police and Fire Protection Professionals of America (SPFPA) Local-66 signed a new labor contract yesterday that runs through 2012. The SPFPA Local-66 is the labor union that represents the protective force officers at the Piketon plant.

“Our protective force officers are highly trained professionals, capable of securing this site and we are pleased to have come to a labor agreement that works for both the union and company,” said Wray Jordan, USEC’s general manager at the Piketon plant.

“Our local union has provided security for this plant since 1955. We are very proud of our service to the site and the surrounding communities. We feel this new contract will help position us to provide the type of security services the site needs,” said Greg Bocook, president, SPFPA Local-66.

USEC’s protective forces provide access control to the site and protect classified material. The protective force includes more than 100 uniformed officers.

USEC Inc., a global energy company, is a leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. It expects to deploy the next generation uranium enrichment technology in Piketon, Ohio – the American Centrifuge. The United States Enrichment Corporation, a subsidiary of USEC Inc., operates a uranium enrichment plant in Paducah, Kentucky, and does contract work for the U.S. Department of Energy in Piketon.
