USEC Names Hairston Manager of Human Resources

PIKETON, Ohio - The United States Enrichment Corporation has named Gary Hairston as Human Resources Manager for Contract Services at the Piketon Plant.

Hairston replaces Kim Lassiter, who recently accepted the position of Director of Human Resources for USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant. In his new role, Hairston will be responsible for the compensation, benefits and labor relations for nearly 1,200 workers.

Hairston’s career at the plant began in 1973 when he worked in various classifications as an hourly employee of the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union. Two years later he worked as an employee of the United Plant Guard Workers of America Amalgamated Local-66. Beginning in 1977, Hairston worked in various levels of management with increasing responsibilities. He and his wife Marilyn (Bowen) Hairston, of USEC’s Field Services Organization, have been married for more than 30 years and their daughter Tia (Hairston) King resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gary and Marilyn live in Portsmouth and are active members of Christ’s Community Church and various civic organizations.

Jim Snodgrass assumes Hairston’s most recent role at USEC, serving as Acting Manager of Security. Snodgrass was hired in 1976 as a Protective Force Officer and has held number management positions within the Protective Force. For the past seven years, he had held the position of Protective Force Section Manager. Prior to the plant, Jim worked for local law enforcement. He and his wife Kathy live in Waverly and have four sons.

“I feel that Gary and Jim’s experience and exceptional management abilities will serve our company and our employees well in these important roles”, said Wray Jordan, USEC’s General Manager of Contract Services. “While Gary and Jim will report to directly to Corporate Human Resources and Security respectively, both will become key members of my management team and report to me for on-going daily activities.”
