USEC and USW Sign Collective Bargaining Agreement

PIKETON, Ohio - Officials from the United States Enrichment Corporation and USW (formerly PACE) Local 5-689 labor union signed a collective bargaining agreement Thursday that will be in effect until 2010.

“We are pleased to sign this agreement which demonstrates continued cooperation and teamwork between USEC and the USW union,” said Sandy Fout, Plant Manager.

This is the same collective bargaining agreement that was approved by union members in March of 2004. Since then, exact wording and details of the contract have undergone an extensive evaluation and review in preparation of Thursday’s signing.

“By putting ink to an agreement which was reached in 2004, we hope to create success for both the USW and USEC as operations evolve at the plant,” said Dan Minter, President of USW Local 5- 689.

The United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied-Industrial and Service Workers International Union (USW) Local 5-689, is formerly known as the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers Union (PACE) Local 5-689. Approximately 590 USEC employees are members of USW Local 5-689.

The United States Enrichment Corporation is a subsidiary of USEC Inc., a global energy company and the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
