BETHESDA, Md. - USEC Inc. has awarded Gary Workman, Production Support Manager at USEC’s Piketon Plant, its quarterly E-III President’s Award. The E-III Award, which stands for Employee Excellence and Entrepreneurship, recognizes employees for achieving corporate objectives through excellence in their work.
Workman received the award for leading a team he assembled to support a mission deemed critical to national security.
“We were handed a challenge and as a team we pulled together to complete the task in a timely and safe manner,” said Workman. “This award is truly a product of exceptional teamwork.”
The team, working under a tight deadline due to the nonproliferation implications of the project, successfully completed the task despite needing to develop new procedures for safely sampling the unconventional containers.
He has served in his current position for the past four years. Workman began his career at the Piketon Plant in 1983 and has worked in various departments and functions including computing, budgets and planning, uranium labs, and feed and transfer operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and electrical engineering from Wright State University, and he has completed graduate studies in Engineering Management at Ohio University.
Workman and his wife Julie reside in Peebles, Ohio, and have two children, Jessica and Nick.
The United States Enrichment Corporation is a subsidiary of USEC Inc., a global energy company and the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
