PIKETON, Ohio - On May 6, General Manager Pat Musser represented USEC when the Piketon site received the Vern Riffe Leadership Award for Outstanding Business of the Year at the seventh annual observance of these awards at Shawnee State University. This award is given to a business each year for its contributions to scouting and to the local community.
This award is presented annually by the family of the late Vernal G. Riffe Jr., a 36-year member of the Ohio House of Representatives (including 20 years as speaker), in honor of his years of support to local scouting organizations. Speaker Riffe retired from the House in 1994 and passed away in 1997.
USEC’s name will be included on a plaque that hangs at the Vern Riffe Branch Library in New Boston.
During the ceremony, Musser also presented a USEC donation for $1,000 to the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Jeff Taylor, Finance Chair for the Tecumseh District, accepted the donation on behalf of the Simon Kenton Council. The donation will be used to support the organization’s programs, which provide guidance to youth in the surrounding communities.
Marty Redden, USEC Emergency Management, served as the emcee at this year’s event.
The United States Enrichment Corporation is a subsidiary of USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU), a global energy company and the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
