PIKETON, Ohio - The United States Enrichment Corporation recently recognized James Dutcher of its Fire Department for completing the State of Ohio’s Firefighter II course and achieving his Firefighter II state certification. This course trains certified Firefighter I firefighters to the Firefighter II level. It requires the participant to successfully complete a fire training course of at least 120 hours that meets all objectives set forth in the current National Fire Protection Association Standards 1001 for Firefighter II level.
Dutcher is a member of the Waverly Fire Department.
The Firefighter II training, the highest certification for a firefighter, requires the knowledge and demonstration of the skills required by a professional firefighter. These include sprinkler system operation, smoke removal from buildings, proper hose handling, search and rescue techniques, building construction/strength during a fire and safety while fire fighting.
The class was conducted by Maria Donini, Fire Department Training Commander at the Portsmouth site. Donini is a State of Ohio Certified Fire Instructor. The test was administered by the state of Ohio.
