Pat Musser Receives USEC Chairman's Award

PIKETON, Ohio - Portsmouth Enrichment Plant Manager Pat Musser received the USEC Chairman's Award at a meeting of the board of directors on September 13 at USEC headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. The award is presented annually to the USEC employee who best embodies excellence and entrepreneurship in day-to-day performance throughout the year.

Musser was recognized for his leadership in several Portsmouth plant improvements, including the successful cell recovery project, a 90 percent reduction in significant human errors and best-ever results in cost and schedule performance.

In his memo endorsing Musser's nomination, USEC Vice President of Production Jim Adkins wrote, "In a very short time after Pat became Enrichment Plant Manager, I observed a dramatic change in the overall attitude of the people at Portsmouth and their aggressiveness in attacking the problems that faced Portsmouth, particularly in regard to achieving production goals." Adkins added, "Pat has been quick to recognize the need for teamwork in making improvements outside of his normal span of responsibility."

USEC Chairman James Mellor presented Musser with a gold-rimmed Waterford crystal bowl on a mahogany pedestal with an engraved plaque.

"We are very proud of the fine job that Pat has done at the Portsmouth plant and congratulate him on this accomplishment," said General Manager Morris Brown.

Musser has served as Enrichment Plant Manager at Portsmouth since January 1999. He and his wife, Martha, live in Chillicothe with their four children.

The United States Enrichment Corporation is a subsidiary of USEC Inc., the world's leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
