PADUCAH, Ky. – USEC Inc. will be soliciting bids for approximately 35,000 tons of bituminous stoker or modified stoker coal. The coal will be received at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah, Ky. The bids will be for one year with options to extend up to three years.
USEC's normal coal specifications range in Btu/lb from 11,800 to 12,000 with sulfur around 1.8 percent, ash 10 percent maximum, and moisture 8 percent typical. Sizing varies with no greater than 25 percent less than ¼" by weight. All the specifications are negotiable with cost-analysis based on MMBtu and other cost related variables.
USEC plans to issue the solicitation on September 25, 2009, with a closing date of October 16, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern. It is anticipated that any resulting contract or contracts will be awarded by November 13, 2009. First delivery of coal is expected in April 2010.
