BETHESDA, Md. – With the relocation later this month of two key managers, USEC Inc. is shifting oversight of its Information Technology program to its uranium enrichment plant in Paducah, Kentucky.
Arthur Allen, Director of Information Technology, and Jesse Calhoun, Manager of Telecommunication Services, are moving to Paducah as part of USEC’s overall strategy to increase efficiency and strengthen ties with its production facility.
Key reasons for the move include enhancing support for the Paducah plant through improved information links and stronger leadership, increased opportunity for early IT involvement in business opportunities and problem solving, and closer alignment with USEC’s business partners.
Allen’s responsibilities include management of all information technology matters, including the processes and staff assigned to USEC headquarters and to the plants in Ohio and Kentucky. He also provides information technology advice for business operations and develops and implements the corporate information technology strategy to support USEC’s strategic goals.
Prior to joining USEC, Allen was a senior financial systems manager for the BankAmerica Corporation and a senior systems manager for BancBoston Mortgage in Jacksonville, Florida. He holds an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Houston and an M.S. in information technology systems from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He also earned a bachelor of criminal justice degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Jesse Calhoun, a former Paducah plant employee and long-time Paducah resident, serves as chief communications engineer and manages all aspects of corporate telecommunication operations, including proposals, projects, budgets and technical staff. Calhoun, who reports to Allen, holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Kentucky.
USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU), a global energy company, is the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. The company’s Paducah plant employs approximately 1,500 people.
