Taylor and Zeis Receive USEC’s 2007 EIII President’s Awards

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – John K. Welch, president and CEO of USEC Inc., presented USEC’s 2007 EIII President’s Awards to Mike Taylor, a USEC Inc. American Centrifuge Plant (ACP) employee at the Oak Ridge, Tenn., location, and Tony Zeis, a USEC Inc. ACP employee who works at the Piketon, Ohio, operation. The awards ceremony took place in Oak Ridge Wednesday, April 9.

Taylor’s and Zeis’ contributions to the American Centrifuge program helped enable the company to meet deadlines ahead of schedule and also set the groundwork for raising capital in 2007 to support building the American Centrifuge Plant.

Taylor, of Knoxville, Tenn., led the test program in Oak Ridge and Piketon, which balanced and tested all the machines that were shipped to Piketon for installation into the Lead Cascade. He also was responsible for directing the successful Lead Cascade test that demonstrated the capability of the machines to operate in a cascade environment and achieve commercial-grade assay.

Zeis, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, was instrumental in the development and validation of more than 75 operating procedures; did the tactical planning, scheduling and coordination required for operation of the Lead Cascade centrifuge machines in a cascade recycle mode; served as the technical expert working with both Oak Ridge and Piketon on the development of the Lead Cascade test plan and test instructions; and was instrumental in developing an alternative plan utilizing a re-configured smaller cascade to demonstrate commercial plant assay.

USEC’s Employee Excellence and Entrepreneurship (EIII) Program encourages employees to achieve the Company’s corporate objectives through excellence and entrepreneurship in their work. The EIII Program provides an opportunity to identify and honor those who have demonstrated particularly outstanding performance.

USEC Inc., a global energy company, is a leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. It expects to deploy the next generation uranium enrichment technology in Piketon, Ohio – the American Centrifuge Plant.
