PIKETON, Ohio - USEC Inc. has named Rob Jacobs as Maintenance Manager, American Centrifuge Plant Operations, in Piketon. He reports to John Oppy, Enrichment Operations Manager.
Jacobs brings more than 27 years of experience in the nuclear and pharmaceutical industries to his new position. While at USEC, he has been supporting the American Centrifuge Plant since early in the project's history through scheduling efforts for the removal of former Department of Energy centrifuge machines. He also assisted in the review of Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing documents for both the Lead Cascade Testing Program and the American Centrifuge Plant.
Since joining USEC in 1993, Jacobs held several positions at its gaseous diffusion plant in Piketon. These have included Work Week Manager, Scheduler, Maintenance Supervisor, and Senior Radiological Controls Technician. He began his career with USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Plant in 2004 as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Lead Cascade Testing Program. He was promoted to Lead Maintenance Supervisor for the Lead Cascade Testing Program in 2007 and to Deputy Maintenance Manager for the American Centrifuge Plant in 2008.
Jacobs previously worked as a consultant and office supervisor with General Physics Corporation in Indianapolis, Ind., where he developed maintenance programs for the pharmaceutical industry. He also spent eight years in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Machinist Mate and Engineering Laboratory Technician.
He is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional by the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals, and he has held a certification with the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists.
Jacobs and his wife, Becky, live in Piketon. They have two children, Sarah and Seth. He is also a member of the Waverly Lions Club.
