PIKETON, Ohio - USEC Inc. has named Mike MacCrae as Quality Assurance Manager, American Centrifuge Plant Operations, in Piketon. He reports to Pete Miner, Director, Regulatory and Quality Assurance.

MacCrae brings more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry to his new position. Since 2007, he has served as a Quality Assurance Engineer for the American Centrifuge Plant. He previously served for 15 years in various Quality Assurance positions at the Piketon site for the United States Enrichment Corporation, McDonald Consulting Corporation and LATA/Parallax, serving the latter as Quality Assurance manager.

MacCrae previously worked as a Radiographer for General Dynamics assisting with the building of nuclear submarines. He then went to Combustion Engineering in New Hampshire to help build nuclear reactor internals. From 1979-1987, he worked in the nuclear power plant construction industry at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant and Plant Alvin Vogtle. Before coming to Piketon, he worked in Quality Assurance for MK Ferguson and Bechtel Savannah River at the Savannah River site in South Carolina.

MacCrae has a bachelor of science degree in zoology from the University of Rhode Island. He is a Certified Quality Manager and Certified Quality Auditor by the American Society for Quality, and he has held national certifications by the American Welding Society and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing.

Mike and his wife, Barbara, live in Piketon. They have three children, Justin, Dave and Megan, and a granddaughter, Olivia. He also serves as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon and serves as its director of the Men’s Evangelistic Network.
