PIKETON, Ohio - USEC Inc. has named Charles Ladd as Regulatory Manager, American Centrifuge Plant Operations, in Piketon. Ladd reports to Pete Miner, Director, Regulatory and Quality Assurance.
Ladd brings more than 25 years of experience in nuclear operations to his new position. Since 2006, he has served as a senior consultant of ARES Corporation, a Nuclear Engineering Safety Consultant firm in Albuquerque, N.M. In that capacity, he coordinated the design, procurement, delivery, installation and testing of uranium enrichment equipment for the National Enrichment Facility.
He previously worked at Florida Power and Light at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant as a Licensed Reactor Operator, Senior Reactor Operator, Nuclear Watch Engineer, Control Room Supervisor, Shift Manager, Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager. From 2001-03, he was Plant Manager at the Pine Bluff Chemical Weapons Disposal Facility in White Hall, Ark., where he was instrumental in assuring safe completion of construction and plant commissioning.
Ladd then served for three years as a Senior Management Technical Consultant with Washington Group International performing work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, N.M. In this capacity, Ladd performed audits and assessments of numerous LANL high hazard and nuclear facilities.
Ladd has a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering technology, and he is a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School. He and his wife, Debbie, will be relocating to Ohio from southern Florida. They have four children.
