PIKETON, Ohio – USEC Inc. has named Brian Zeik as Manager of Training and Procedures at its American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon. Zeik reports to John Oppy, Lead Cascade Demonstration Manager.
Zeik has 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry. As a former member of the Reactor Performance Engineering group at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, he supported routine reactor operations and refueling and startup activities through four fuel cycles. At the Oak Ridge National Laboratory High Flux Isotope Reactor in Tennessee, Zeik held a variety of positions including Assistant Reactor Operations Manager, Operations Engineer, Operations Procedure Coordinator, and Reactor Outage Manager while maintaining Shift Technical Advisor and Senior Reactor Operator qualifications.
As a Senior Engineering / Training and Procedure development contractor, Zeik became a qualified instructor at USEC’s Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in 2001 where he was involved in training program modification and implementation required for the plant’s Transfer and Shipping upgrades. He later supported the training and procedures upgrades for the Honeywell Metropolis (Ill.)Works restart activities and developed a DOE-compliant multi-facility training program at the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico.
Zeik joined USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Program at Piketon in 2004 as the Lead Cascade Project Support Manager responsible for developing and implementing Emergency Management, Fire Safety and Records Management / Document Control programs. He has a bachelor of science degree in nuclear and power engineering as well as master’s degrees in management and finance, all from the University of Cincinnati.
Zeik and his wife, Lisa, live in Chillicothe with their children, Ryan and Gina.
