PIKETON, Ohio - The first phase of construction projects supporting the deployment of the American Centrifuge Demonstration Facility is complete. Approximately $17.5 million of high-risk work was completed in 2004 and 2005, and USEC Inc. and its contractors completed this work safely with no injuries.
The principal contractors that performed this work were DKM Construction, Inc. and Diaz Construction, Inc. Other contractors were Mechanical Construction, Inc., Heibel Electric Co., West End Electric Co. and Jesse Howard Construction Co. Crafts included electricians, laborers, ironworkers, roofers, pipe fitters, sheet metal workers, sprinkler fitters and carpenters. During the peak construction activities, approximately 50 contractors were working onsite.
USEC Inc. Construction Engineers had the overall responsibility for the oversight of the construction activities and project coordination. The Construction Engineers assigned to this project were Steve Fetherolf, Dan Gross, Justin Kammer and Tony Dement with contractual support provided by Vito Lonardo, Steve Brigner and Gene Collins.
USEC Inc. Lead Engineers for this project have years of experience in the construction industry and demonstrate a commitment to complying with the safety and health requirements. They are Dave Ghearing, Frank Cordier, Salah Darwish, Mike Edelmann, Dewey Godfrey, Mike Hagans, Doug McCann and Brad Teeters.
Construction Safety Officers were Tonya Osborne, Jean Dickerson, Shannon Swayne, Dave West, Jerry Evans and USEC Industrial Safety, which included Jayne Crabtree, Sharon Grooms, Kim Brown and Kerry Davis.
