PIKETON, Ohio - Effective August 8, 2005, USEC Inc. has named Sandra L. Fout to the position of Engineering Manager for American Centrifuge at the Piketon plant. She reports to Daniel Rogers, Director of the American Centrifuge Plant.
“Sandy will be a valuable asset to USEC’s American Centrifuge program,” said Rogers. “Her knowledge and experience in engineering and management will strengthen our team as we work together to deploy what is expected to be the most efficient uranium enrichment technology in the world.”
Fout has served as Plant Manager for the United States Enrichment Corporation since 2000.
Fout came to the Piketon plant in June 1979 as a metallurgist. In 1987, she transferred to the Project Management group in the Engineering division where she was responsible for the management of multi-million dollar engineering projects for the Piketon plant. In 1991, she was named to manage the Project Management group. From 1992-1994, she held various positions of management within the Engineering division: department head, Chemical Engineering; department superintendent, Design Engineering; and deputy division manager, Technical Operations. In 1994, she was promoted to division manager, Environmental and Waste Management. She was named division manager, Technical Services, in February 1995, and she became organization manager, Production Support, in December 1995
Fout has a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. She also has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from University of Findlay.
Toni Brooks will assume Fout’s former position as Plant Manager for the United States Enrichment Corporation at Piketon.
As Plant Manager, Brooks will be responsible for USEC’s day-to-day operations at the Piketon plant, including maintenance, laboratory and production support and work performed under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy.
“Toni’s experience in operations and engineering plus her proven management ability will serve well in her new role as Plant Manager. We are pleased to have her in such an important and challenging position,” said Pat Musser, General Manager for USEC operations at the Piketon plant.
Brooks most recently served as USEC’s Nuclear Regulatory Affairs (NRA) Manager. Jim Anzelmo, Piketon Plant Services Manager, will serve as acting NRA Manager in addition to his current duties.
Brooks began her career at the plant in 1984 as a Process Engineer. After a brief period as a Senior Production Engineer for the Allied-Signal Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri, she returned to Piketon in 1989 to serve as an Engineering Project Manager. She has also served as Waste Management Manager, Chemical Operations Manager, Nuclear Safety Manager and Customer Service & Production Scheduling Organization Manager.
Brooks earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Yale University and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Ohio University. She resides in Chillicothe with her husband Ron and daughter Nikki.
