BETHESDA, Md. - USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today that Dan Rogers has been named Director of Lead Cascade Construction & Operations leading USEC Inc.’s American Centrifuge Demonstration Facility activities in Piketon, Ohio. Rogers will report to Ron Green, USEC’s senior vice president leading the company’s demonstration and deployment of the next generation uranium enrichment technology, American Centrifuge. Angela Duduit has accepted the position of Public Affairs Manager. Both Rogers and Duduit had been employed by USEC’s subsidiary, United States Enrichment Corporation, in support of the Gaseous Diffusion Enrichment Plant in Piketon.
In making the announcement, Green said: “Dan will play a key role in moving the company forward with our new American Centrifuge deployment efforts by leading the construction and operations of the Lead Cascade in Piketon. Angie will play an important role in keeping the community, media and local government officials informed about progress in our demonstration program.”
Rogers came to the Piketon plant in 1974 and has served in numerous plant senior management positions, most recently as Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning, overseeing the cleanup of existing Department of Energy (DOE) centrifuge machines to make room for the Lead Cascade. Prior to that, he served as Program Manager, overseeing cold standby, deposit removal and winterization work being done under contract by USEC to the DOE. Before coming to the Piketon site, he worked for Pennsylvania Electric, and he attended Ohio University.
Duduit came to the Piketon plant in 1990, and she has worked in the Public Affairs office since 1992. As the Public Affairs Manager since 1998, she has been responsible for community, media and government relations for the Gaseous Diffusion Enrichment Plant under the United States Enrichment Corporation subsidiary of USEC. Duduit has both a bachelor of science degree and a master of science degree in journalism from Ohio University.
USEC expects to begin operating the American Centrifuge Demonstration Facility in Piketon later this year. The facility will yield cost, schedule and performance data before USEC begins construction of the full-scale American Centrifuge Plant, which is scheduled to be operable by the end of the decade. The plant is expected to provide a reliable, competitive fuel source for the world’s nuclear power plants, while supporting U.S. energy security and national security interests.
