USEC Inc. Supports CASEnergy’s Job Creation in the Nuclear Renaissance Initiative

BETHESDA, Md. – USEC Inc. acknowledges that the resurgence of nuclear power and of America’s nuclear industrial manufacturing base will produce significant economic benefits and commends the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition on the launch of its new Job Creation in the Nuclear Renaissance initiative.

USEC is investing in an advanced uranium enrichment technology to help fuel the nuclear renaissance and meet the needs of a growing population for greenhouse gas emission-free electricity. The company is demonstrating and deploying the technologically advanced American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, to provide a reliable, competitive source of fuel for the world’s nuclear plants.

USEC is also helping America rebuild its nuclear industrial manufacturing base. The American Centrifuge Plant will employ more than 400 people at the plant site in Piketon, Ohio, and create hundreds of additional highly skilled jobs across the United States as USEC’s strategic suppliers and manufacturers expand their facilities to support the project.

As America’s only commercial uranium enrichment facility using U.S.-owned centrifuge technology, USEC’s American Centrifuge Plant will play an important role in America’s energy security.

Enrichment is the process by which the concentration of the fissionable uranium isotope, U-235, is increased in order to make fuel for nuclear power plants.

USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU), a global energy company, is a leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
