BETHESDA, Md. - William H. Timbers, president and chief executive officer of USEC Inc., today announced that Ernest Moniz, Richard Perle and Linda Stuntz have joined the Company’s Strategic Advisory Council. Timbers said, “We are pleased that Dr. Moniz, Mr. Perle and Ms. Stuntz will add their outstanding expertise to that of our other Strategic Advisory Council members. Since its formation in 1999, the Council has served as an invaluable resource that brings a wealth of diverse expertise to bear on USEC interests and activities pertaining to the nuclear and electric power industry and market, national security and advanced technology.”

• Ernest J. Moniz is a professor of physics at MIT and has a distinguished background in science, nuclear energy and in government service. He has served as Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy where he was responsible for the national laboratory system and an R&D portfolio spanning science, energy, environmental and national security programs, including serving as lead negotiator for Russian initiatives. Dr. Moniz also served as Associate Director for Science in the Office of Science and Technology Policy and as Head of the MIT Department of Physics.
  
  
• Richard N. Perle is a Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a consultant to the Secretary of Defense, and chairman of the Defense Policy Board of the Department of Defense. He has also served as Assistant Secretary of Defense where he was responsible for strategic nuclear policy, trade and technology exports, and negotiations among the United States, its allies and the Soviet Union. He was a member of the staff of the Senate Committee on Government Operations and the Committee on Armed Services, where he organized hearings and strategy for the SALT I and SALT II treaties.
  
  
• Linda G. Stuntz is a principal at the law firm of Stuntz, Davis and Staffier, P.C. where she specializes in energy and environmental issues and matters relating to government support of technology development and transfer. She has served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, playing a principal role in the development and enactment of the Energy Policy Act of 1992.
