BETHESDA, Md. - USEC Inc. today announced the promotion of J. Morris Brown to Vice President, Operations, and Patrick Musser to Portsmouth General Manager.
In his new position, Brown will be responsible for production-related activities and operations at USEC’s uranium enrichment plants near Portsmouth, Ohio, and in Paducah, Kentucky. He has served as General Manager at the Portsmouth plant since March 1998. He previously served as Engineering Manager at the Paducah facility. Brown has 36 years of nuclear-related experience including management responsibilities at Carolina Power and Light Company, Louisiana Power & Light Company and Newport News Shipbuilding Dry Dock Company.
Musser has been the Enrichment Plant Manager at the Portsmouth plant since January 1999. He originally joined USEC at the Paducah site in 1996, where he served as a senior staff consultant and manager of shift operations. He transferred to Portsmouth in April 1998 and served as a manager in both maintenance and training until his current assignment. Before coming to USEC, Musser served 12 years at Carolina Power & Light in various engineering and operations positions at the Brunswick and Robinson plants. He previously was a field engineer and operations trainer at General Electric.
James N. Adkins, Jr., formerly Vice President, Production, will continue with USEC as Vice President, Services and Projects. In this capacity, he will focus on new initiatives such as expanding USEC’s field services work, including work for the Department of Energy. He will continue to oversee efficiency improvement initiatives at Paducah, the transition of Portsmouth facilities to cold standby for DOE, and other operations projects.
