USEC Announces Retirement of Bill Bennett
–Dan Stout Named Director of Enrichment Technology–

BETHESDA, Md. - USEC President and CEO William H. Timbers today announced the retirement of Bill Bennett, Vice President, Advanced Technology, effective August 18, 2000.

In making the announcement, Timbers said, "Bill has been a critical partner on USEC’s management team throughout privatization, first as the officer in charge of production and ultimately as our head of advanced technology. I will miss Bill’s counsel and friendship, and I wish him all the best in his retirement."

Bennett noted that his seven years at USEC culminate a 32-year career in various aspects of U.S. nuclear power programs. "I’m glad I had the opportunity to be part of the biggest privatization of a government entity since Conrail and to be part of building a new company," he said.

Dan Stout, who has been named Director of Enrichment Technology, will lead USEC’s technology development. A veteran of the nuclear navy, Stout has served as USEC’s manager of advanced enrichment projects since 1995. Stout will report to Philip G. Sewell, Vice President of Corporate Development.

USEC has exclusive rights to the laser-based Silex process for enriching uranium and has reached two milestones in the development of that promising technology. USEC is also actively exploring the availability and performance of both foreign and U.S. gas centrifuge enrichment technologies.

USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU), a global energy company, is the world’s leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants.
