BETHESDA, Md. - USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today the appointment of Dennis F. O’Brien to the position of Treasurer. He assumes responsibility for financing, cash management, banking and credit agency relationships, risk management and investments. O’Brien will report to Henry Z Shelton, Jr., Senior Vice President and CFO.
O’Brien brings 30 years of financial management experience to USEC, most of it in the electric utility industry. He held positions of increasing responsibility in finance at Commonwealth Edison Co., including Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. During his tenure, he reduced debt, lowered the company’s interest costs and maintained a $13 billion capital structure. Most recently, O’Brien served as a senior executive for Praire Packaging, Inc., a food service product manufacturer, and as a financial management consultant.
"Dennis’s extensive experience in the utility industry will be of great benefit to USEC as we work to grow our core business and reduce production costs," said Shelton. "We will capitalize on his skills in debt and equity securities as we pursue our strategy to expand the company’s position in the marketplace."
A graduate of Xavier University, O’Brien received his M.B.A. in finance from DePaul University.
