BETHESDA, Md. - Joel Bryan, USEC Inc.’s assistant treasurer, will become acting treasurer. The move comes following the resignation of treasurer Sarah Van Lierde.
Bryan has been closely involved in the Company’s issuance of senior notes, bank debt and commercial paper as well as setting up the processes to manage the Company’s cash position. Before joining USEC, Joel was employed with American Management Systems and Caterair International. He has a BA degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from George Washington University.
Van Lierde will leave USEC in early November and Bryan’s appointment will be effective at that time.
In making the announcement, Senior Vice President and CFO Henry Z Shelton, Jr. stated, "Sarah made many important contributions to USEC, during both the privatization and subsequently establishing the Treasury function. We regret her departure and we wish her well in her future endeavors."
Van Lierde said she made the decision to leave USEC for personal reasons and that she is not leaving to take another job at this time. "I expect to take my first extended vacation in many years and spend time with my family," she said. "It has been a pleasure and rewarding to work with USEC’s investors, bankers and fellow employees through privatization and the first year as a public company. My belief is that USEC’s best days are ahead."
