Gary Ellsworth Joins USEC Inc. as Vice President, Government Relations
-Formerly Chief Counsel, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee-

BETHESDA, Md. - Gary G. Ellsworth, formerly Chief Counsel, U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, is joining USEC as Vice President, Government Relations.

"Gary Ellsworth has earned widespread respect throughout Congress, the government and the industry for his expertise, judgment and perspective. We are fortunate to have him lead our government relations activities," said William H. Timbers, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer.

Ellsworth’s career on Capitol Hill spanned more than 21 years, beginning as Staff Director and Minority Counsel on the House Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs. In 1981, he moved to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, where he served as Deputy Chief Counsel, Minority Chief Counsel and Chief Counsel.

As principal staff member responsible for the legal and legislative agenda of the Committee, he played a key role in developing significant energy and environmental legislation. Ellsworth also managed the Committee’s confirmation process for Presidential nominees.

Ellsworth earned his J.D. degree (cum laude) from the International School of Law, which later became the George Mason School of Law, and his B.A. from Dartmouth College. As an engineering officer in the U.S. Navy, he served in Vietnam.
