BETHESDA, Md. - USEC is pleased to announce the 1998 winners of the Annual Partnership Award for Forecasting Excellence. The winners showed the greatest accuracy in forecasting their FY98 separative work unit (SWU) requirements, in both timing and quantity. Separative work units are the industry measure of uranium enrichment services.
The Kansai Electric Power Company, Inc., Osaka, Japan, is the winner in the Large Utility Category; Taiwan Power Company, Taipei, Taiwan, won in the Medium Utility Category; and South Carolina Electric & Gas Company, Jenkinsville, South Carolina, placed first in the Small Utility Category.
"Accurate forecasting is truly a beneficial partnership," said Bob Van Namen, Vice President, Marketing and Sales. "Accurate forecasts allow USEC to produce SWU efficiently, to deliver SWU orders always on time and to provide our customers with flexibilities whenever unforeseen events occur."
The three winners will receive a 10-day reduction in the natural UF6 feed delivery lead time in connection with each delivery for the coming year. USEC instituted the award in 1996.
