Jeffry Sterba to Join USEC Inc. as Executive Vice President
-COO of Public Service Company of New Mexico to join USEC by year's end-

BETHESDA, Md. - William H. Timbers, President and Chief Executive Officer of USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) announced today that Jeffry E. Sterba, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), will join USEC by year's end as Executive Vice President.

"Since our privatization in July, we have moved quickly to restructure our operations to further enhance our goals of efficiency, safety and creation of shareholder value. We are fortunate to have Jeff Sterba, a veteran of the electric utility industry, join us to lead new efforts in USEC's revenue development, market growth and business strategy," Timbers said.

Sterba graduated with a B.A. in economics summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis. He pursued post graduate studies at Washington University and the University of New Mexico. Sterba was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President in 1997 after 21 years of increasing responsibility at PNM.

"We are confident that Jeff Sterba will bring new and vital experience, ideas and dynamics to USEC, further adding to the strength of our management team," Timbers concluded.
